GD promotes Cantonese cuisine chef program
    2022-04-20  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

GUANGDONG Province’s Human Resources and Social Security Department recently issued a work plan to promote the Cantonese cuisine chef training program and enhance Cantonese cuisine’s influence in the world.

Over 38,000 people are expected to join the training program, which also includes the construction of more than five demonstration training bases, the plan said.

The provinces’ vocational schools and institutions will be encouraged to set up majors for Cantonese cuisine talent training, with the aim of attracting 70,000 students.

A batch of industrial parks to produce pre-prepared Cantonese dishes will also be established, according to the plan.

The plan also aims to develop 10 travel routes and 100 tourism destinations featuring Cantonese cuisine. It says related government authorities will push forward preferential policies to establish platforms for the research and development of pre-prepared Cantonese dishes, improve food quality, expand Cantonese cuisine’s market share and promote national and international cooperation.

A guidance on the IPR (intellectual property rights) protection of Cantonese cuisine chefs will also be released. A vocational skill training assessment system will be launched, and leading Cantonese cuisine companies will be invited to join the system, as per the plan. A nutrition guidance guideline based on Cantonese cuisine will also be issued.

Intangible cultural heritages related to Cantonese cuisine will be displayed at national exhibitions and tourism platforms, the work plan says. Related government departments will also encourage the production of films, videos, documentaries and books to introduce various Cantonese dishes to visitors worldwide.

A batch of cultural exchange bases will be set up to promote overseas and international cooperation, the plan says.

The work plan also includes training projects for the province’s technicians and domestic helpers. (Windy Shao)
