My favorite movie

“Braveheart” is a heart-warming film, telling the story of the Scottish hero William Wallace’s heroic fight for freedom against the English rulers, starring and directed by Mel Gibson. It is an excellent story of oppression and revolution. During an age of ignorance, people were struggling under the king’s iron rule. The people of Scotland became a sea surging with anger. Accompanied by the melodious folk music of Scotland, in a land flowing with milk and honey, Wallace became the Moses who led his people towards freedom.

I was deeply touched every time I watched it. The wild daisies sway in the wind, and the little boy stands motionless over the cold body of his father whom the English had trapped and killed with their foul deceit. Some horsemen race in front of the fort, their swords swinging in the air. The ragged men trudge over the hills and across the rivers, breaking through the enemy’s lines with thunderous force. In chilling silence, the lake is covered with snow. The hand that gripped the battle-axe drops feebly, and the handkerchief on which scarlet roses are embroidered with a lover’s blood languishes aside the still body.

I love Wallace’s passionate speech:

“Fight and you may die, run and you’ll live. You may die in your beds many years from now. Would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they’ll never take our freedom!” The other scene I like most is when he shouted “FREEDOM” with all his might before he is beheaded. I believe all those who have seen it are also moved.

I was impressed by Wallace’s heroic deeds; the movie also reminded me how patriotism can bond people together. I learned a lot from it. It taught me about honor. I learned that if I want something, I need to be brave and fight for it. Freedom is priceless, and we should treasure the peace we have today.
