Hee-jin Ahn, Gounee Yang Global Economic News YOUNG South Korean job seekers in their 20s and 30s regard the health care sector including the biopharmaceutical industry as the most promising to sustain rapid growth. According to the survey results released by Job Korea on Tuesday, roughly 52% of young people in the country selected the sector as the most promising. The survey Job Korea conducted recently is about emerging industries that will shape South Korea’s future. Nearly 1,400 university students and employed respondents in their 20s and 30s participated in the survey. The IT/communication industry ranked second, with 35.4% of the respondents saying they believe it will sustain a rapid growth. University students selected the e-commerce and content/webtoon/IP industries as the third and fourth-ranked promising industries, respectively. Employed respondents chose the delivery/shipments and mobility industries as the third and fourth. On the other hand, not many respondents expected the finance/banking/credit card (8.1%), education (6.3%) and agriculture/fishery/forestry (3.8%) industries to significantly grow in the future. Almost half of respondents said the reason why they selected the industries is “Changes such as technology application have already begun (43.5%).” |
