SCI articles increase

Between 2020 and 2021, a total of 46 papers involving five subjects of SMBU were included in the Science Citation Index (SCI), an international open-access databank which covers all research fields.

The papers include 11 ones in 2020 and 35 ones in 2021. Among them, 19 papers were published in Journal Citation Reports, accounting for 41.3% of the total papers that had been published by the university, and 12 papers were published in top science journals, accounting for 26% of the total.

In recent years, with the strategy of building a world leading comprehensive research university, SMBU has actively planned and encouraged to make high-level research achievements. Targeting international frontiers and major demands of the country, SMBU has guided teachers and students to carry out researches, attaining high-quality academic achievements and promoting high-quality disciplinary program development of the university.

Strategic agreement

SMBU signed a strategic cooperation framework with Longgang District Government on Jan. 25. The two sides will make full use of their respective advantages, develop cooperation in scientific research and commercialization, talents, education, culture and sports activities, and health management, promote the scientific, educational and cultural development of Longgang District, and speed up to build the district into a modern international and innovational center in the city’s east.

International exchange

The Exchange Program for Late Enrollment Undergraduate Students Between SMBU and LMSU had been included in the 2022 list of China Scholarship Council programs for the promotion of international cooperation and cultivation with Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. SMBU signed the exchange program agreement with LMSU in March 2021 and applied for subsidies from the China Scholarship Council.

Admission guide

SMBU on March 12 unveiled its admission plan for undergraduate studies in 2022. The university plans to enroll 678 students from 21 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in 2022. The university will launch its chemistry program (dual enrollment) and an English language stream (single enrollment) for the biology subject.

The university will enroll 185 students (including elite winners at subject competitions) for postgraduate studies in 2022. It will implement LMSU’s programs for master’s degrees.

Campus newspaper awarded

The first issue of The Pinnacle, SMBU’s campus newspaper, won a third prize at 2021 Guangdong Education Excellent News Awards, the Department of Education of Guangdong Province announced recently.

The organizer had received more than 950 entries since the award was launched in October last year. The judging panel selected 61 pieces for first prize, 96 pieces for second prize and 150 pieces for third prize.
