Macao arts festival ‘invigorates’ power of times
    2022-05-12  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THEMED “invigorate,” the ongoing 32nd Macao Arts Festival aims to invigorate the power of times through artistic productions. The festival opened April 29 and ends June 2 in China’s Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR).

Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR, this year’s arts festival kicked off with the opening program “Free Man From the South,” a contemporary dance theater production by Chinese choreographer Willy Tsao.

Other programs include “Electra,” a tragedy from Ancient Greece by Sophocles, in a version produced by the Center for Dramatic Arts in Shanghai and by a Greek complany, and theater play “Lorcha di Amor” that tells the story of a luxury curise, highlighting the characteristics of Macao as a city where multiple cultures coexist. Eighteen core programs and more than 200 activities will be staged during the festival.

Tickets for the closing concert “Liza Wang and the Macao Chinese Orchestra” had bee sold out since the first day of ticket sales. To satisfy the music aficionados in Macao and the Greater Bay Area, an additional performance will be offered June 1. Tickets will be on sale from 10 a.m. on May 14. (SD-Agencies)
