Jung-hee Kim, Gounee Yang Global Economic News SALES of Hyundai Motor Group’s dedicated electric vehicles (EVs), including both domestic sales and exports, have surpassed 150,000 units. According to Hyundai Motor Group, the cumulative domestic sales of the three EV models, Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and Genesis GV60, were 54,919 units, including 33,213 units of Ioniq 5, 18,509 units of EV6, and 3,197 units of GV60, in April. Ioniq 5 was released in April last year, EV6 in August, and GV60 in October. Exports also significantly increased. In April, the cumulative export volume reportedly reached 102,000 units, including about 62,000 units of Ioniq 5, 39,000 units of EV6, and 1,000 units of GV60. All the three models are complied with Hyundai Motor Group’s EV-dedicated platform “E-GMP.” The E-GMP is much smaller than internal combustion engine, having wider and more comfortable interior compared to internal combustion engine vehicles in the same class. It can also optimize the battery capacity and number of motors by vehicle size and type. In particular, EV models with the E-GMP have V2L (Vehicle to Load) function that can supply vehicle powers to external devices and ultra-fast charging system that can charge batteries from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes. |
