Authority gives explanation on license plate lottery rules
    2022-05-18  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

WHEN the application code for the city’s license plate lottery has expired, applicants need to enter the lottery system to sign up again. Otherwise, it will be invalid for the next round of the lottery, according to the city’s transport authority.

Under the rules, the application code is only valid for three months. Applicants need to sign up in the system again to join in succeeding lotteries afterward.

Each ID and mobile phone number is only available for registering one account in the lottery system. When the code has expired, applicants cannot register another account for a new application code.

The previous application code will be reactivated to be included in the lottery after applicants have signed up again in the system.

A license plate quota is valid for six months and the lottery quota validity period is calculated to start on the day the quota is issued.

Applicants who win a lottery quota should use it within six months and the quota will be deemed void if not used within the time limit. Applicants who fail to use their quota will not be allowed to apply for the next two years.

The authority said the rule is designed in a bid to guide applicants to participate in lotteries when they really need a vehicle license plate and reduce the number of those who do not need a license plate at the moment.

Citizens now have two ways to get their vehicle license plates – either by lotteries or auctions.
