A TOTAL of 1,701 couples registered their marriages at Shenzhen’s marriage registration offices by 6 p.m. Friday, up 33% from last year, according to the city’s civil affairs bureau.

A single-day record high in recent years was registered at Futian District’s marriage registration office, with 426 couples who tied the knot Friday. Meanwhile, Guangming District’s marriage registration office in Guangming Xincheng Park was officially put into use.
