Han Ximin 1824295095@qq.com SHEKOU Port initiated a through-container service in partnership with Sanrong Port in Zhaoqing in Guangdong under Shenzhen Customs’ Combined Port program recently. After customs clearance at Sanrong Port, the departing export commodities could be shipped to international container ships at Shekou Port without going through a second customs check. The Shekou-Sanrong route is the fourth combined port route that has been initiated in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area this year. It is also one of the 19 routes under the program. Around 200,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) a year were handled at Sanrong Port. The simplified customs rule has reduced time and costs for exporters. Since January this year, Shenzhen Port has handled 78,000 TEUs under the combined port program. In another development, trade through Dachan Bay Port reached 230,000 TEUs between January and April, 330 percent more year on year, or 70% of the total throughput in 2021. So far this year, Dachan Bay Port has opened six new sea routes. |
