Bookings for Dragon Boat Festival go up

AIR ticket booking from Shenzhen residents for the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival holiday travel via tourism service website www.qunar.com has increased by 30% in May over the previous month, data from the website operator showed.

Data showed popular holiday travel destinations are Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Sanya, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Xi’an, Harbin and Kunming, which are not heavily affected by COVID flare-ups. Bookings for routes between Shenzhen and Chengdu and Chongqing took up nearly half of the total bookings to hot destinations.

In Guangdong Province, Shenzhen ranks first in hotel reservations for Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on June 3 this year. It is followed by Guangzhou, Foshan, Dongguan and Huizhou. Travelers favor hotels near Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian CBD, and Shenzhen Science and Technology Park and Coastal City in Nanshan District. Reservations for

Reservations for camping equipment and sites, which became popular this year, kept a strong momentum for the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, with its numbers doubling year on year. Reservations for camping vehicles went up by 60% year on year, and residents from Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Huizhou and Hangzhou topped camping-related reservations.

Visitor traffic from Shenzhen residents to www.ctrip.com rose by 17% from Friday to Sunday over the previous week, and hotel reservations for the Dragon Boat Festival holiday rose by 466% over the Qingming Festival holiday period. Data showed the per capita expense on camping during the holiday is expected to reach 700 yuan (US$103), same as the spending during Qingming Festival and May Day holidays.

Camping within Guangdong Province is still the most popular, with 90% of orders settled. Data from www.ctrip.com showed reservations between May 13 to Thursday for inter-province tours for Dragon Boat Festival holiday travel went up by 20% over the previous week and intra-province tour reservations went up by 40%.
