A PUBLIC forum was held Sunday at Shenzhen Talent Park, Nanshan District, soliciting public opinions on the Park City Construction Master Plan & Three-Year Action Plan (2022-2024), Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported. A draft of the project was released May 28 by the city’s planning and natural resources bureau and is under a 30-day public review. As of now, it has gathered nearly 10,000 valid responses from residents to share their vision of what the parks should look like with planners and park designers. Among the respondents, 53.47%, 51.11%, and 40.24% of them suggested improvements in access to parks and greenways, park coverage, and access to nature, respectively. In the responses, 61.9%, 52.98%, and 47.59% of the people stressed the urgent need for lawns where tents can be put up, recreational facilities for children, and sports facilities, respectively. To enhance coastal tourism, 61.9%, 52.61%, and 44% advised building more coastal walkways, more coastal parks, as well as more beaches, swimming areas and marine sightseeing attractions, respectively. At the forum, He Fang, an engineering survey expert, proposed that Shenzhen strengthen its restoration of biological corridors to provide habitat for wildlife. Shenzhen will roll out four action plans in three years and build a park city integrating mountains and sea by 2035. Shenzhen boasts 310 rivers, 161 lakes and reservoirs, over 60 mountains, and over 3,000 species of plants and animals. With 1,238 parks and 2,843 kilometers of greenways, the city earned the reputation as a “city of one thousand parks.” (Xia Yuanjie) |
