Larissa Tu, G8A, RDF International School My biggest hobbies are playing basketball and volleyball. I started to play volleyball in February 2021, because our school had a volleyball season then. At the beginning, I was afraid because I had never played the sport before. I gradually found it enjoyable through plenty of practice. I have not only improved my volleyball skills, but also learned the importance of cooperation. When playing volleyball, we cannot depend on one single excellent player to win a game, and we can only win by team cooperation. During practice, we built a bond of sisterhood and became good friends. We didn’t win the game in that season but we are confident that we can win next time with more practice. I also love playing basketball. My interest in the game started in December 2020. At that time, I always went to the basketball court with my classmates after class. I watched competitions and found it cool. My enthusiasm was dampened by the fact that basketball is usually played by boys and there were no other girls playing with me. I was also afraid that people would laugh at me for playing lousily. The only way to overcome my fear was to train hard and improve my skills. So I practiced on my own until the campus basketball season started. I signed up for the basketball team. After spending a lot of time practicing, I suddenly found that I was the best player in the basketball team. Since joining the team, I’ve received professional training and become more confident in myself. My classmates are very awesome and I can learn a lot from them too. These two hobbies are like a source of power in my life. They not only have helped me make many friends and learn the spirit of teamwork, but also have given me a sense of achievement. So if you want to learn something, just do it. Hold on to all the good opportunities and never give up! |
