A TOTAL of 1 million doses of the 13-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide conjugate vaccine packed in intelligent pharmaceutical cold chain temperature control boxes of Shenzhen-headquartered enterprise China International Marine Containers (Group) Ltd. (CIMC) were delivered in batches to Morocco recently, the Daily Sunshine reported. The vaccine, independently developed by Chinese vaccine producer Walvax Biotechnology Co. Ltd., is the first 13-valent pneumococcal vaccine in China and the second in the world. It also marked the first time that the vaccine had been exported overseas since it hit the market. It was approved for use in 2019, breaking up the over-10-year monopoly of foreign enterprises in pneumococcal vaccines. The vaccine has been included in Morocco’s expanded immunization program to protect millions of children from lung infections. The pneumococcal vaccine doses, weighing 80 tons, were sent to Morocco supported by CIMC’s temperature control packaging solution, which is suitable in long-haul cold chain transportation of vaccines or drugs in bulk. According to relevant data, by the end of 2021, CIMC had delivered reagents and clinical drugs to over 100 countries and regions, helped export domestically developed COVID-19 vaccines to over 40 countries, with a total amount of more than 600 million doses.
