It’s time to appreciate lotus flowers
    2022-06-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

LOTUS flowers in Honghu Park in Luohu District have entered their blooming season, so don’t miss out. Due to the heavy rains in late spring, this year’s lotus flowers are not as abundant as previous years, but its flowering period is expected to continue until mid-July.

Experts suggest that the best time to see the flowers is between sunrise and 11 a.m., when the sunlight is softer and the elegance of the flower’s shape and their natural colors can be seen best. Visitors are advised to stagger their travel to the park, as a cap of 9,000 visitors will be imposed.

Honghu Park is also inviting visitors to find twin lotuses on one stalk in the park and gifts will be given to visitors. Twin lotuses blooming on one stalk are rare, so they are symbols of romance in China. Every summer, the park organizes the “finding twin lotuses” event and visitors can call 2562-8811 for more information.

In the park, visitors can rest at Hemei Space, located on Hexian Island, where there is a small library, an exhibition room, souvenirs, snacks and soft drinks. Visitors can also look out of the leisure space’s windows to watch birds and admire a vast lotus lake. (SD News)
