New combined port

THE Shekou-Xintang combined port was officially put into use Wednesday as a batch of containers loaded with power cables were shipped out from Xintang Port to Australia via Shekou Port, Chinanews.com reported.

The combined port route between Shekou in Shenzhen and Xintang in Guangzhou is the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area combined port’s 20th route and the fifth that opened this year.

Shenzhen Customs cooperated with Guangzhou, Huangpu and Gongbei customs to facilitate enterprises’ declaration and inspection procedures by sharing the port code.

AED rescues man

A 34-YEAR-OLD man surnamed Jiang, who recently had a sudden cardiac arrest while playing basketball at a basketball court in Bantian, Longgang District, was rescued by two staffers and another basketball player who used an AED to administer first aid before first responders from the gym’s 120 emergency center arrived, sznews.com reported.

Data showed that Shenzhen has 17,158 AEDs, with 3,000 added this year. They are located mainly in public places including residential areas, schools and new metro stations. Currently, AEDs installed in the city’s public places have successfully helped rescue 50 people.

Commuting services

SHENZHEN Disabled Accessibility Service Center has carried out providing free regular commuting services for the city’s disabled employees since 2019 and has served tens of thousands so far, according to DT News.

For the convenience of the disabled, the center also cooperated with the city’s caring disabled volunteers association to recruit volunteers to help disabled people get on and off the bus.

The services not only provided convenience for the disabled employees but also encouraged more disabled people to integrate in society, find jobs and realize their own self-worth.
