STUDENTS need to hold a negative 24-hour nucleic acid test result to attend the Shenzhen senior high school entrance examination, or zhongkao, which will kick off Sunday, according to the latest information released by Shenzhen Enrollment Examination Office.

Those who hold a negative 48-hour nucleic acid test result but with a COVID test record within 24 hours before the exam starts will also be allowed to attend.

Eighth graders should also meet the same requirements to sit the biology and geography academic proficiency test that will be held Tuesday.

Additionally, examinees from outside the campus have been required to undergo daily nucleic acid test for three consecutive days before the exam date.

Examinees, in principle, must wear a mask when taking the exam, and those who will attend the exam at quarantine exam rooms or special exam rooms must wear a mask during the exam period.

Given the pandemic, students and their parents are advised to only travel between home and school or work, and to avoid gatherings for safety.

All students currently living in Futian’s lockdown and control areas for the recent COVID flare-ups will be arranged to take zhongkao at back-up quarantine exam rooms, according to information released by Futian District’s COVID-19 prevention and control office.

All schools located in Futian’s lockdown, control and prevention areas have halted face-to-face teaching and turned to online learning as required by district authorities until further notice.

This year’s zhongkao in Shenzhen will last for three days from Sunday to Tuesday.
