SZ Port’s Combined Port program expands

A BARGE loaded with containers of flavoring essence and aluminum rolls recently completed customs procedures at Guangzhou’s Jiaoxin Port and were sent overseas aboard an ocean freighter via Shenzhen Port’s Shekou Container Terminals, marking the official operation of the Shekou-Jiaoxin Combined Port.

Guangzhou’s Jiaoxin Port is the 21st port that partners with Shenzhen Port under the Combined Port mode. Shenzhen Port has opened combined port services with 21 ports in eight prefecture-level cities in Guangdong Province, and Jiaoxin is the sixth port that Shenzhen Port has opened in Guangdong this year.

Through the Combined Port program, Shenzhen Port has completed the throughput of 113,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) so far this year, exceeding that of 2021, data from Shenzhen transport bureau showed yesterday.

In another development, Yantian Port signed an agreement with Zhuzhou, Hunan Province, on June 22 to establish partnership to share information. Under the partnership, Shenzhen Port will help build Zhuzhou into Shenzhen Port’s inland port area in Hunan Province. The Zhuzhou Port Area, which shares information with Shenzhen Port, will be a yard and an extension of Shenzhen Port service, where export commodities under customs supervision and inspection could be directly shipped to Shenzhen for shipment, without necessarily going through second checks.

On June 23, Shenzhen Port opened its port area in Yueyang, Hunan Province. The yard in Yueyang covers 80,000 square meters and can send 200 TEUs a day via railway service to Shenzhen.

The sea-rail service could handle about 40,000 TEUs a year. Compared with the river-sea service through the Yangtze, the rail-sea service through Yantian Port will help enterprises save seven days.
