SUSTech, SZU send off graduates to start anew

SOUTHERN University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) sent off 1,650 graduates this year, including 970 bachelor’s degree holders.

Among the 970 graduates, 70% will take postgraduate programs, and around 300 or a third of them, will study overseas.

For the students who will study overseas, 52% of them have been enrolled in the world’s top 50 universities, while 85% of those who will take further studies in the mainland, have been admitted to Double First-Class universities, data from SUSTech’s commencement ceremony Saturday showed.

According to data, 75% among those who chose employment hold postgraduate degrees, and 70% of them will work in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and countries and regions along the Belt and Road Initiative. Tech giant Huawei Technologies hired 68 graduates from SUSTech this year.

Meanwhile, 65% of graduates who got employed work for the world’s top 500 and China’s top 500 enterprises.

On the other hand, a total of 7,281 undergraduates and 2,692 master’s degree and 56 doctoral students will graduate from Shenzhen University (SZU) this year, its commencement ceremony showed Saturday. As of June 28, over 50% of SZU’s graduating students had received offers from major companies such as Huawei, Tencent, BYD and DJI.

In addition, 1,624 SZU’s fresh graduates have been admitted to research institutions or universities at home and abroad for their master’s degree programs, such as at Tsinghua University, Peking University, the University of Hong Kong and University of Oxford, up by 281 students year on year.
