SUMMER nights in Shenzhen carry their own kind of magic, and there’s seemingly endless fun at local theme parks after the sun goes down. Leave your sunscreen at home and take advantage of the night life with these park events.

The Waterlands Resort in Bao’an District is holding a light show every night through Oct. 7. Glittering light installations in the shapes of heavenly bodies, the galaxy and fireflies, as well as drama shows and campfire parties, all beg to be explored. The night-entry ticket is 38 yuan per adult and 25 yuan per child.

Avoid the midday heat and Happy Valley’s throngs of tourists by visiting the theme park at night when the temperature begins to go down. You’ll appreciate live electronic music at night every weekend through Aug. 28. Enjoy yourself at a League of Legends-themed area where you will meet cosplayers and watch the League of Legends Pro League matches on a big screen.

Other parts of the park have also been illuminated and you can order light snacks and drinks from various snack stands and restaurants. The night-entry ticket is 110 yuan per person which includes a 30-yuan food coupon; for students who took the High School Entrance Examination or National College Entrance Examination this year, the ticket is 60 yuan.

Neon is to Hong Kong as red phone booths are to London. Visitors can admire Hong Kong’s one-of-a-kind heritage at the Window of the World theme park which has been decorated with neon lights. This year, the park’s beer festival gives a sense of old Hong Kong and the night-entry ticket is 85 yuan per person.

At the annual water-splashing carnival at the Splendid China • China Folk Culture Villages, a series of activities will cool you off, including water splashing, float parades, electronic music parties and hip-hop dances. The park’s night-entry ticket is 49.9 yuan per person.
