主角光环
    2022-07-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Meaning:

“主角” means “protagonist,” and “光环” is translated as “halo” or “aura.” The term “protagonist’s aura” has been widely used in the discussion of animation, novels and films. It refers to a mystical aura that surrounds a protagonist who has some kind of “superpower” or “unbeatable luck” when faced with powerful adversaries. The protagonist never dies until the last episode, can be resurrected if there’s a sequel, and has irresistible appeal for female characters in the fictional works.

Example:

A: 你发现没,金庸的武侠小说里也常常出现自带主角光环的人物。

Nǐ fāxiàn méi,jīnyōng de wǔxiá xiǎoshuō lǐ yě chángcháng chūxiàn zìdài zhǔjué guānghuán de rénwù。

Did it occur to you that many a character in Jin Yong’s martial arts fiction has the so-called “protagonist’s aura?”

B: 可不是嘛!比如张无忌,本来差点被打死又掉下悬崖,居然捡到一本武功秘籍,不但没死,还练成绝世武功。

Kě búshì ma!Bǐrú zhāng-wújì,běnlái chàdiǎn bèi dǎsǐ yòu diàoxià xuányá,jūrán jiǎndào yīběn wǔgōng mìjí,búdàn méi sǐ,hái liànchéng juéshì wǔgōng。

Tell me about it! Take Zhang Wuji for example: Almost beaten to death and falling off the cliffs, he came upon a mysterious kungfu book, survived and became a top kungfu master.
