Police beef up night patrol
    2022-07-26  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN police have beefed up night patrol to ensure public order and safeguard residents’ safety, specifically in certain areas such as coastlines, streets, roads and communities, SZTV News reported.

The police launched a three-day nighttime action to investigate and eliminate safety hazards and crack down on illegal and criminal activities from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. between Friday and Sunday.

The three-day action was part of a larger campaign that began June 22 and will run through the end of September. The campaign aims to heavily crack down on law violations, rectify public security issues and address different kinds of safety hazards.

Maritime patrol along Futian District’s 14.7-kilometer coastline has been strengthened. They are geared up for patrolling around the clock, and have two designated marine patrol sections and an emergency small boat squad on standby.

In case of any emergency at sea, Futian’s maritime defense police will act on a rapid response mechanism, which requires that police officers be dispatched in 3 minutes. In addition to patrol personnel, searchlights are installed to constantly rake the sea surface.

According to Xu Liang, police sergeant of the maritime defense and anti-smuggling brigade of Futian District Public Security Subbureau, patrol personnel will pay special attention to the estuaries of the Xinzhou and Shenzhen rivers, as well as the area closest to Hong Kong’s Mai Po.

Shenzhen traffic police have also launched an action to crack down on traffic violations on summer nights in the city.

From Friday to Saturday, a total of 107 alcohol-related traffic violations were investigated and dealt with, including 21 driving-under-the-influence cases and 20 drunk driving cases, according to statistics from Shenzhen traffic police.

Police in communities have tightened up patrol in nucleic acid sampling sites to keep order and remind residents to wear masks properly when taking nucleic acid tests.   (Zhang Yu)
