Chinese paintings

Jointly organized by the Nanjing Museum and the He Xiangning Art Museum, “From Dong Qichang to Fu Baoshi: Special Exhibition of Jinling Paintings Over 400 Years,” running until Oct. 12, showcases 180 paintings from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) to now, created by Jiangsu-based masters such as Dong Qichang, Fu Baoshi and Song Wenzhi.

Fossils and woodcarvings

You will see some complete fossils of prehistoric sea animals at an exhibition which runs until Aug. 14. Exquisite gold-coated woodcarvings and gold lacquer items made in Guangdong are also on display until Oct. 8.

New exhibitions

Relics from Sanxingdui in Sichuan Province are on display at an exhibition running until Oct. 23 and ancient Chinese books collected by Shenzhen Museum are also on display through Oct. 30. An exhibition of bronzewares from the ancient Dian kingdom in Yunnan gives a glimpse into its history 2,000 years ago. The exhibition runs until Sept. 18.

Edgar Plans’ works

Spanish artist Edgar Plans has brought his Little Hero character in a basketball-themed exhibition titled “Game On!” (78 yuan) running until Sept. 20. Wearing NBA jerseys, Little Hero has been transformed into Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, LeBron James and other stars in an array of colorful sculptures. Plans names graffiti, street art, comic books, illustrations and animated films as major influences.
