CHINA’S advertisement industry registered rapid expansion in 2021, data from the State Administration for Market Regulation show.

The combined business revenues of major companies and public institutions in the sector surged 20% year on year to approximately 1.18 trillion yuan (US$174 billion) last year, exceeding 1 trillion yuan for the first time, according to the administration.

Service trade

CHINA’S service trade value grew 21.6% year on year in the first half of 2022, data from the Ministry of Commerce showed Wednesday.

Total trade value stood at 2.89 trillion yuan (US$426 billion), according to the data. Service exports expanded 24.6% yearly to 1.41 trillion yuan, and service imports were 1.49 trillion yuan, up 18.9% from a year ago. Service trade deficit dropped 34.3% to 79.19 billion yuan in the first half. China’s trade of knowledge-intensive services maintained steady growth in the period, rising 9.8% year on year to about 1.21 trillion yuan, said the ministry.

Lithium-ion battery

CHINA’S lithium-ion battery industry logged rapid growth in the first half of 2022 as the country stepped up efforts to achieve its carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals, and the demand from downstream sectors remained strong.

It is estimated that country’s output of lithium-ion batteries in the January-June period exceeded 280 gigawatt-hours, registering a year-on-year increase of 150%, data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology showed Wednesday. The whole sector raked in more than 480 billion yuan (US$70.78 billion), the ministry estimated.
