Nanshan Museum

“The Face of Eternal Life — Egypt and Its Golden Mummies,” running until Sept. 11, showcases over 100 ancient Egyptian relics including golden mummies, masks and portraits from the Manchester Museum’s extensive Egyptology collection. Another must-see free exhibition, “Masterpieces in Miniature: Treasures From the Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Collection,” running until Oct. 30, features 90 gold, silver, portrait miniatures, snuffboxes, mosaic paintings and dresses on loan from the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London.

Children’s art

Bring your children to a fun land where Chinese contemporary artists and their children’s paintings are on display. The free exhibition running until Sept. 4 is not only a show unleashing children’s imagination but also explores powerful interactions between parents and children in education.

Lu Pingyuan

Young Chinese artist Lu Pingyuan is exhibiting contemporary artworks inspired by German fairytale “Hansel and Gretel” at the “Trapping Cooking, Cooking Trapping. It’s a Lovely Life” exhibition running until Oct. 30. The artist’s thoughts in fairytales or animations give him a special power and his works are often enigmatic and wondrous. Last year, he exhibited his works inspired by “Barbapapa” in Shanghai.

Pink installations

French musician and artist Philippe Katerine has decorated The MixC Shenzhen Bay with his massive bubblegum pink installations, disclosing the artist’s philosophy of “simply open your eyes, you can always find something cute somewhere and it’s just a matter of perception.”
