THE two-day Shenzhen Intellectual Property (IP) Forum for International Cooperation kicked off at the Ritz-Carlton in Futian District yesterday afternoon to spotlight international IP cooperation and innovation.

Promoting international IP cooperation is an important measure to promote innovative development. The forum serves industrial development needs, and it aims to add new insights and engines for high-quality development, Li Zhong, director of Shenzhen Administration for Market Regulation, said at the forum.

Liu Hua, director of the China office of the World Intellectual Property Organization, said via video link that as of 2021, Shenzhen had been ranked No. 1 in terms of international Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) applications among big and medium-sized Chinese cities for 18 consecutive years. According to Liu, Shenzhen’s outstanding achievements in IP protection over the years demonstrated how the city emphasizes the IP field. Three speakers also delivered speeches on international IP cooperation and innovation development under global changes.

Song Liuping, Huawei’s chief legal and compliance officer, in his speech, advised market entities to utilize IP to bring about more economic value because its core is economic behavior.

The forum was organized by Shenzhen Administration for Market Regulation (Shenzhen Intellectual Property Administration).
