SHENZHEN MSU-BIT University (SMBU) held a ceremony marking the new school semester Tuesday on its Longgang campus. The ceremony was held online simultaneously, attended by Chinese and Russian faculties, parents of new students and guests from all walks of life.

During the ceremony, Li Hezhang, rector of SMBU, announced that Sept. 13 has been designated as the university’s anniversary.

Li also said in his speech that the university provides a stage for students to chase their dreams and urged students to take on the responsibility to seek better-quality and moral life, to learn by doing and to learn from each other.

Russian ambassador to China Andrey Denisov affirmed the achievements that the school has made in recent years. He thanked the school for granting him the title of honorary professor and said he would contribute more to cultural, educational, and scientific and technological exchanges between Russia and China.

Zhang Hanhui, Chinese ambassador to Russia, sent a congratulatory letter, where he congratulated the students for starting their new life journeys in Shenzhen.

Zhang said he hoped that the students could communicate with teachers and their fellow students from all over the world with an appreciative and inclusive attitude and continue the friendship between the two countries.

Sergey Shakhray, first vice rector of SMBU, said via video link that SMBU is taking opportunities to build itself into an important platform for scientific, technological and educational cooperation between Russia and China.

SMBU’s first knowledge and science cultural festival, which will last for a month, also kicked off at the ceremony.
