‘Miracle’ as man found alive 17 days after deadly quake
    2022-09-23  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Rescuers carry Gan Yu, a hydropower station employee who was found alive after missing 17 days since a 6.8-magnitude earthquake hit Sichuan Province on Sept. 5, onto a helicopter for medical treatment Wednesday. Gan, 28, was rescued Wednesday morning by Ni Taigao, a villager in Yaojin Village in Shimian, a county in Ya’an City, who heard his yell for help in the mountain. Gan cried heartedly and said he was lucky to have met Ni. Gan said he had survived by eating wild fruits and drinking water. Doctors said Gan’s life is not in danger, but he suffers multiple fractures and serious infection.  ↗ Ni (L) and Gan pose for a photo after Gan was found.   (Story on P4)
