Discover art at The MixC Qianhai shopping mall
    2022-10-14  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Since The MixC Qianhai opened late last year, the shopping mall has launched several public art exhibitions to make itself more than just a destination for the usual hangouts. Now more than 20 artists are exhibiting their dazzling works there, adding to the enjoyment of the mall’s visitors.

Hong Kong designer Hong Ko’s water droplet-shaped sculpture “Emobling” was inspired by the emoji “wow” to awaken people’s curiosity.

Chinese mainland artist Ma Xiaohai’s rhinoceros sculptures are inspired by the popular Chinese avant-garde play “Rhinoceros in Love.” The play portrays desperate love and persistent pursuit of a lonely and eccentric man considered as a rhinoceros among people.

French artist Nicolas Barrome Forgues’ illustrations are populated with cross-eyed dogs, giant squids and aliens inspired by his love of science fiction movies. He gives life to fruits and vegetables, mocks icons or interprets his childhood memories. Never limiting himself in any way, Forgues also borrows from classic paintings by masters or characters from “SpongeBob SquarePants.”

Dates: Until Oct. 22

Venue: The MixC Qianhai, Guiwan Road 4, Qianhai (前海桂湾四路深圳万象前海)

Metro: Line 5 to Guiwan Station (桂湾站), Exit A (Cao Zhen)
