China to persist in building human community with shared future
    2022-10-21  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

CHINA will promote with concrete actions the building of a community with a shared future for humanity and work to make the system of global governance fairer and more equitable, Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu said Thursday.

Ma made the remarks at a press conference on the sidelines of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

Efforts in building a community with a shared future for humanity have made substantial progress in various fields and regards, he said.

The China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative has become a well-received international public good and an important platform for international cooperation, he said, adding that the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative have brought new impetus to the world peace and development.

He pointed out that the humanity is facing unprecedented challenges, and hegemony and bullying by certain forces are posing great threat to the world order.

“A divided world is in no one’s interest, and bloc confrontation would only lead to a dead end.”

China will explore its own development while firmly safeguarding world peace and development, and better promote world peace and development through its own development, he said.

A total of 181 countries have established diplomatic relations with China, up from 172 10 years ago. The number of partnerships China has so far established with countries and regional organizations across the world also increased from 41 a decade ago to 113, he said.

The country has advanced the building of the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for the new era, proposed the three principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation for China-U.S. relations, and advocated the China-EU partnership for peace, growth, reform and civilization.

China’s national sovereignty, security and development interests have been vigorously protected in the process, Ma said, adding that China has now established diplomatic relations with nine countries that formerly had so-called “diplomatic ties” with the country’s Taiwan region.

Over the past 10 years, China’s diplomatic efforts have consolidated international support for the one-China policy, stemmed external forces’ intervention in Hong Kong’s affairs, foiled anti-China forces’ attacks and defamation against China, and safeguarded the country’s national interests and dignity, he said.

China supports Indonesia in playing its role as the president of the Group of 20 (G20) and expects the upcoming G20 summit to contribute to global COVID-19 response, economic recovery, and food and energy security, Ma said.

China supports the theme of “Recover Together, Recover Stronger” of the summit, which will be held in Bali in November. As a G20 member, China has been taking an active part in international economic cooperation and global economic governance, and working with other parties to propel strong global growth, he said.    (Xinhua)
