WHILE a bus was on the road one night, a passenger suddenly felt ill and doubled over in pain. Other passengers looked after him carefully and in front of the bus, a traffic police officer on motorcycle led the way and escorted them so that the ill passenger can receive medical treatment.

The incident happened in Shenzhen recently and the video was shown in a short video program focused on civilized behavior presented by Longgang District, Shenzhen Evening News reported yesterday.

At about 9 p.m. on the day of the accident, when Fang Li, a driver of bus route 811, drove to the Longcheng Square Metro Station, an elderly male passenger got up and walked to the front of the bus.

The passenger slumped on the seat, with severe abdominal pain, and asked Fang for help. He looked into the mirror and saw that the male passenger was curled up in a cold sweat.

Fang was immediately aware of the emergency and quickly pulled over. With the consent of the other bus passengers, Fang restarted the bus and went straight to the hospital, turning the bus into an “ambulance.”

At this time, a young man on the bus stepped forward, put one hand on the back of the ill passenger and gave an emergency call. Soon, a female passenger also stood up to help take care of the passenger.

As the traffic to the hospital was not smooth, Fang stopped the bus immediately and got off to ask for help after seeing a traffic police officer on duty. The traffic police officer quickly went to the front of the bus to help escort the bus.

A few minutes later, the bus arrived at Longgang District Central Hospital. Fang and the warm-hearted young man slowly helped the ill passenger get off the bus. The passenger is now in good condition due to the timely help from Fang and fellow passengers.  (Zhang Yu)
