THE remains of Jiang Zemin, who passed away in Shanghai on Wednesday at 96, were cremated at the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery in western Beijing yesterday.

Xi Jinping and other leaders of the Communist Party of China and the State paid their respects to Comrade Jiang at the Chinese PLA General Hospital before escorting Jiang’s body to the cemetery for cremation.

Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Li Zhanshu, Wang Yang, Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Han Zheng, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, Li Xi, Wang Qishan and Hu Jintao either visited Jiang Zemin in hospital when he was critically ill or sent condolences to his relatives after his passing.
