Newly built world’s largest container ship towed to shipyard
    2022-12-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Escorted by 21 maritime patrol vessels, “Xinfu 102,” the world’s largest container ship based on TEU capacity, is towed on the Yangtze River in Taizhou, East China’s Jiangsu Province, yesterday. Built by Jiangsu Yangzi Xinfu Shipbuilding in Taixing City, the ship was towed successfully to Taicang Yangzi Sanjing Shipyard in Suzhou City yesterday. With a capacity of 24,346 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), the ship marks a new record in the world’s top ultra-large container ship construction field. The ship is 399.99 meters long and 61.3 meters wide, with a deck area of 24,000 square meters, equivalent to 3.3 standard soccer fields. It will be delivered to the shipowner in February next year after completing follow-up outfitting and sea trials.Xinhua
