CEBU Pacific Air, the second-largest airline company in the Philippines, resumed its flight between Manila and Shenzhen on Monday.

The weekly flight operates every Sunday, departing from Manila at 11:35 p.m. and arriving in Shenzhen at 2:15 a.m. the next day. The return flight departs Shenzhen at 3:30 a.m. and arrives in Manila at 5:50 a.m.

On Chinese New Year eve, Lion Air, the largest privately owned and budget airline company, resumed its flight between Bali and Shenzhen, the first flight route between Bali and the Chinese mainland. Flight JT2649/8 operates every Saturday with departure from Bali at 11:25 p.m. and arrival in Shenzhen at 4:40 a.m. the next day. The return flight departs Shenzhen at 5:50 a.m. and arrives in Bali at 10:55 a.m.

So far, international flights to Shenzhen have reached 19 cities in 17 countries. The number of international flights departing from and arriving in Shenzhen has reached 60 flights a week.

The flight to Bali, which resumed during the Spring Festival, was also the first flight from the Chinese mainland after China lifted most of its COVID-19 measures, with its maiden flight reaching a 97% occupancy rate, according to Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport.

Cambodia Airways also opened a flight between Shenzhen and Phnom Penh recently, bringing the total number of flights between Shenzhen and Southeast Asian countries to 30 flights a week.

The flights include routes to Singapore, Thailand, Ho Chi Minh City, Kuala Lumpur, Phnom Penh, Jakarta, Bali, Manado and Manila.

Data from www.ctrip.com showed that booking for cross-boundary flights tripled after quarantine measures for COVID were lifted. Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Chiang Mai, Manila and Bali have become the most popular tourist destinations favored by Chinese tourists.

During the Chinese New Year holiday period, booking for flights to Bali increased thirtyfold, to Singapore eightfold, to Manila fivefold and to Phuket fourfold.

“The Southeast Asian Market has been the first choice for Chinese travelers, and group travel will resume soon. The recent opening of the two routes will satisfy the demand for more international travel,” Li Jingxia, general manager of Shenzhen Tripean International Travel Service, said during an interview.

So far this year, Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport has resumed three international routes and intensified more flights on international routes.
