THE 2023 Qianhai Global Investment Promotion Conference London Station was successfully held in London on Saturday, attracting senior executives and representatives from over 50 British enterprises to attend.

Bao Ling, minister of China’s embassy in the U.K., delivered a speech at the event. She said that Qianhai, as a major demonstration zone for intensified cooperation between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, has created a favorable legal climate to promote innovation and opening up and attract foreign investment. “Today’s conference has created some exciting opportunities and the Embassy of P.R.C. in the U.K. will, as always, provide assistance to the China-U.K. cooperation,” Bao said.

The event was organized by a delegation from the Authority of Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone of Shenzhen (Qianhai Authority) to lure investment and talents from the U.K.

Wang Jinxia, deputy director of Qianhai Authority, introduced to the audience Qianhai’s development opportunities and cooperation prospects. He said Qianhai is taking a faster step to build itself into an experimental platform for the comprehensive deepening reform and innovation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and a high-level opening-up hub, making the area the “first option” for foreign investment to tap the Chinese market.

“We sincerely invite London companies and institutions to come to Qianhai for investment and share with us the dividends of China’s reform and opening-up, and achieve a win-win future for the Greater Bay Area,” Wang said.

Wu Lin, secretary general of the China Chamber of Commerce in the U.K., said they have full confidence in the two-way investment prospects between China and the U.K. and look forward to strengthening cooperation with Qianhai and jointly writing a new chapter in China-U.K. economic and trade exchanges in the new era.

The Qianhai delegation paid its first visit to London in 2017. This visit has further expanded, consolidated and deepened practical cooperation between the two places.
