THE Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-SZ) has currently entered into cooperation with some 132 well-known overseas schools, marking its progress in going international, sources from the school said at the Spring Reception for Media 2023 held Saturday.

The number of various kinds of international cooperation projects has exceeded 233 to date, involving 29 countries and regions. Since 2016, the school has also received undergraduate and postgraduate students from 45 countries for its exchange programs.

CUHK-SZ students performed a Kylin dance and a Chinese classical dance to kick off the event which was held at the university’s Longgang campus Saturday.

This year marked the 60th anniversary of CUHK, and CUHK-SZ will celebrate its 10th anniversary next year.

Xu Yangsheng, president of CUHK-SZ, and Rocky S. Tuan, president of CUHK, shared the new development and future cooperation plans of CUHK and its Shenzhen campus.

According to Tuan, CUHK is planning several projects in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as well as participating in national key economic and sci-tech research projects, including some in Qianhai and Hong Kong’s northern area.

On the other hand, Xu introduced his school’s achievements in the past nine years. He said that the campus’ Phase II will be put into use this August as scheduled. Other construction projects such as the Jihua Hospital, the School of Music and the School of Medicine are also in progress.

To date, CUHK-SZ has attracted over 520 renowned scholars and experts, including five Nobel Prize winners through its global recruitment program. In addition, over 70% of its graduates each year chose to further their studies, according to the school.
