Sun Yat-sen remembered A CEREMONY was held in Beijing on Sunday afternoon to remember Sun Yat-sen, the late statesman who led a revolution that ended imperial rule in China. The ceremony in Zhongshan Park, named after Sun, was held to commemorate the 98th anniversary of the passing away of the renowned statesmen. Sun is known to the Chinese as a great revolutionary and statesman for his leading role during the 1911 Revolution, which ended more than 2,000 years of feudal rule in China. Remote sensing satellite CHINA successfully sent a new remote sensing satellite into space from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, located in the country’s northwest region, yesterday. The remote sensing satellite was launched at 12:02 p.m. by a Long March-2C carrier rocket and entered its planned orbit successfully. Railway network THE goal for China’s railway system in the next five years and beyond is for it to promote high-quality development and take the lead in achieving modernization to support the government’s stated goal of turning the country into a modern socialist country, a top railway official said yesterday.
