Cross-Strait flights SHENZHEN has become one of the 10 mainland cities preparing to resume direct flights across the Taiwan Strait, the Shenzhen Municipal Taiwan Affairs Office said Tuesday. Shenzhen is one of the regions on the mainland with the largest concentration of Taiwan compatriots, Shenzhen Evening News reported yesterday. Prior to the COVID-19 epidemic, four airlines — Shenzhen Airlines, China Southern Airlines, China Airlines and UNI Air — operated 28 direct flights every week between Shenzhen and Taiwan. However, the flights were suspended due to COVID-19 three years ago. Name change SHENZHEN Yantian Port Group Co. Ltd. has recently changed its name to Shenzhen Port Group, Shenzhen Economic Daily reported, citing an announcement issued by the Shanghai Clearing House. The port group’s registered capital has increased by 400 million yuan (US$58.24 million) to reach 4.93 billion yuan, according to database query platform Tianyancha.com. Shenzhen Port Group was founded in 1985. Its affiliated local ports achieved a container throughput of 16.30 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) in 2022, accounting for 54.27% of the total throughput of all ports in Shenzhen. Parking under park THE city will build an 86-meter-long underground passage for vehicles to Shenzhen East Railway Station to park at the parking lot under Buji Park, according to a plan of Shenzhen’s planning and natural resources bureau. The move is to relieve parking difficulties at Shenzhen East Railway Station, which also offers access to Metro lines 3, 5, 14 and 17. CPI drops SHENZHEN’S consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, dropped by 1.1% in February over January, data from the Shenzhen survey office of the National Bureau of Statistics showed. The decrease was mainly caused by the drop in food prices after the Spring Festival and ample supplies of pork and vegetables due to warm weather. |
