CHINA successfully sent four meteorological satellites into space from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in Northwest China on Wednesday.

They will be mainly used to provide commercial meteorological data services.

Maritime crimes

CHINESE police cracked over 1,100 criminal cases in 2022 amid clamp down on ocean-related criminal activities, such as smuggling of goods and humans and illegal fishing, the Ministry of Public Security said Wednesday.

Among the cases, 15 major and serious offenses involving the smuggling of illegal goods were cracked, and over 5,000 tonnes of frozen products smuggled through the border without quarantine were seized.

RNA COVID-19 vaccine

DOMESTIC drugmaker CSPC Pharmaceutical Group said Wednesday that its messenger RNA COVID-19 vaccine has gained emergency use authorization from China’s top drug regulator.

It is the first mRNA vaccine to be approved for use on the Chinese mainland. The drug was approved for clinical trials in April last year.
