Special health zone A SPECIAL medical zone in southern China’s island province of Hainan, which provides world-class medical tourism services to domestic and international patients, has experienced an increase in visitors, reported China Daily yesterday. In the first two months of 2023, the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone, China’s first and currently only special medical zone, received more than 34,000 visitors, up over 37% year on year, according to the news report. Established in 2013, the zone has set up an independent regulatory system to optimize the approval, customs clearance, use and supervision of imported medical devices and drugs, and introduced its own insurance system to fill the gap in insurance for imported medicines, the newspaper said. Leading technology CHINESE scientists have developed the first superionic hydride ion conductor at ambient conditions, according to the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences. With strong reducibility and high redox potential, the hydride ion (H−) is a reactive hydrogen species and an energy carrier. Materials that conduct pure H− at ambient conditions will be enablers of advanced clean energy storage and electrochemical conversion technologies. Online literary works MORE than 16,000 Chinese online literary works had entered the international market by the end of 2022, making it possible for online literature to be a new calling card for China, according to a report. These works, half of which with translated versions online, have attracted more than 150 million readers from 200 countries and regions worldwide, said the report on China’s online literature released at a conference held in Shanghai. |
