MULTILINGUAL versions of extracts from President Xi Jinping’s discourses on respecting and protecting human rights, published by the Central Compilation and Translation Press, has been displayed at the 133rd China Import and Export Fair (also known as Canton Fair) that kicked off Saturday, drawing attention from fair visitors and exhibitors from home and aboard. The discourses’ English-Chinese, Russian-Chinese, French-Chinese, Japanese-Chinese and Spanish-Chinese versions were compiled and translated by the Institute of Party History and Literature of the Communist Party of China Central Committee. Divided into nine sessions, they include a series of Xi’s important expositions on respecting and protecting human rights. These versions are of great value and significance as they enable readers to grasp the rich connotations of Xi’s expositions on the subject and understand China’s great practice of respecting and safeguarding human rights, while also promoting China’s perspective on human rights. Through the Canton Fair, China has shown the world the results of high-quality development with Chinese stories. Overseas businessmen have also sought opportunities from China’s high-quality development, according to Nanfang Plus. The exhibition area of the 133rd Canton Fair increased from 1.18 million square meters to 1.5 million square meters, turning out to be the biggest scale in the fair’s history. Launched in 1957 and held twice yearly, the Canton Fair is China’s largest trade expo and is considered a major gauge of China’s foreign trade. Moreover, the number of onsite exhibitors rose from 25,000 to nearly 35,000, with more than 9,000 new exhibitors and about 40,000 online exhibitors. Hundreds of thousands of buyers from more than 220 countries and regions have signed up to participate in the fair. The fair is split into three week-long phases over the course of a month. The first phase wrapped up yesterday, and the second phase will be held from April 23 to 27, while the third phase is from May 1 to 5. (Wang Jingli) |
