Plant explosion

NINE people were killed and one injured, with one still missing, after an explosion at a chemical plant in the city of Liaocheng, East China’s Shandong Province, local authorities said Wednesday.

The incident occurred Monday morning at the hydrogen peroxide production area of Luxi Chemical Group under Sinochem Holdings Corporation Ltd.

Shanghai tourism

SHANGHAI received over 15.6 million visits during the five-day May Day holiday, with tourism revenue reaching 18.9 billion yuan (US$2.7 billion), authorities said Wednesday.

More than 300 cultural and tourism activities were rolled out during the holiday, according to the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism.

Intern opportunities

THE Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone on Hengqin Island in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, will soon start its Summer Internship Program for University Students from the Macao Special Administrative Region.

The program, which provides about 185 internship positions to university students from Macao this year, aims to encourage and support more Macao youth to participate in the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, better understand their motherland and integrate into the overall development of the country.
