路边摊
    2023-05-11  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Meaning:

“路边” means “roadside,” and “摊” means “stall” or “booth.” Roadside stalls or vendors made headlines in Chinese media recently after such major cities as Shanghai and Shenzhen lifted a ban on them. As long as the stall keepers follow sanitary standards and don’t disturb nearby residents, they are now allowed to sell snacks and crafts along roadsides.

Example:

A: 你的手机壳挺特别的。

Nǐ de shǒujīké tǐng tèbié de。

Your mobile phone shell is one of a kind.

B: 我周末在小区附近的路边摊买的,摊主说是她自己手工制作的。

Wǒ zhōumò zài xiǎoqū fùjìn de lùbiāntān mǎi de,tānzhǔ shuō shì tā zìjǐ shǒugōng zhìzuò de。

I bought it at a roadside stall near my housing estate during the weekend, and the seller said she made it herself by hand.
