OFFICIALS from eastern China’s Taizhou inked deals involving 33 projects during their investment promotion tour in Shenzhen on Thursday.

The 33 projects, worth more than 27.8 billion yuan (US$4.01 billion), include 23 industrial ones, each with an investment exceeding 500 million yuan, six tech talent and four capital cooperation projects.

Taizhou is located in eastern China’s Jiangsu Province, bordering the Yangtze River to the south. It is one of the central cities in the Yangtze River Delta region.

Zhu Lifan, Party secretary of Taizhou, said that although Shenzhen and Taizhou are separated by more than 1,500 kilometers, the two cities have been deeply integrated in terms of socioeconomic development.

A large number of Shenzhen-based firms have invested and developed in Taizhou in fields such as logistics and tourism. Zhu expected the investment promotion tour to Shenzhen will bring win-win results in the future.

Xu Wenjin, vice mayor of Taizhou, said that Taizhou’s biomedicine and offshore shipbuilding industries have been selected as national advanced manufacturing clusters while the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has obvious advantages in finance, sci-tech innovation and talents so that Taizhou and Shenzhen are highly complementary in industries and can join hands to promote high-quality development and write a new chapter of development.
