Jin relics

A total of 159 relics on loan from Shanxi Museum and the Shanxi Provincial Archaeological Research Institute are on display at an exhibition on the history of the Jin State (1033-376 B.C.). As one of the five most powerful states in the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 B.C.), the Jin State used to cover areas in modern Shanxi Province and parts of Shaanxi, Hebei, Henan, Shandong and Inner Mongolia.The free exhibition ends July 23.

Paintings, calligraphy

Paintings and calligraphic works by Chinese artists Zhou Sicong and Lu Chen are on display until June 25, reflecting their lifelong passion for art. The pieces were created from 1963 to 2003.

Rug art, Joseph Beuys

The Sea World Culture and Arts Center is currently hosting several ticketed exhibitions. Eighty outstanding architects, designers and artists from around the world are showcasing their graphic designs on hand-knitted rugs at the “80x80 Carpet Design Project of 80 Artists” exhibition running until July 5.

“Everyone Is an Artist: Joseph Beuys,” running until June 30, features 200 works by German avant-garde sculptor, painter, installation artist and performance artist Joseph Beuys (1921-1986) whose works are characterized by unorthodox materials and ritualistic activities.

Masterpieces

At the “Magnificence: Masterpieces From the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea” exhibition running until June 25, visitors can observe artworks by iconic artists including Vincent van Gogh, Rene Magritte, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Edgar Degas and Wassily Kandinsky.
