Explosions kill 3 THREE people are confirmed dead and several others were slightly injured in two explosions triggered by fireworks in Tianjin on Tuesday evening, local police said yesterday. Police arrested a suspect, a 46-year-old man surnamed Ma, the Hedong District branch of the Tianjin Municipal Public Security Bureau said in a press release. It said the explosions, about 30 minutes apart, went off between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. in two apartments located in two residential buildings in the downtown Hedong District. The two buildings are about two kilometers apart. High-speed trains CHINA’S fastest train — the Fuxing bullet — is expected to run on the Qinghai-Tibet Railway line by next month, according to China Railway Qinghai-Tibet Group. The company started renovating a 760-kilometer-long stretch of the 814 km Xining-Golmud section in June 2021 with an estimated investment of 1.5 billion yuan (US$209 million). The high-speed train, which can reach a top speed of 160 kilometers per hour on this line, will reduce the travel time between Xining and Golmud by roughly an hour. |
