Wine and dine 以美酒佳肴款待
    2023-06-15  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A: How was your date last night?

B: The guy was humorous and cultured, only he took me to Pizza Hut before we took a walk down the river.

A: What’s wrong with pizza?

B: Well, I’m an old-fashioned girl at heart. I like to be wined and dined on the first few dates.

Note: To “wine and dine” someone means to “treat him or her to an expensive meal.” As we all know, full course dinners, often consisting of appetizers, fish course, entree, main course and dessert, are accompanied by wines. The exact origin of the term “wine and dine” isn’t known, though the phrase is a contemporary one that first appeared during the 20th century.
