Dragon boat paddlers compete in a traditional Chinese dragon boat race on Houhai River in Shekou yesterday. The Dragon Boat Festival, also called the Duanwu Festival, is traditionally celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month on Chinese lunar calendar. It falls on Thursday this year. As one of the most important traditions of the festival, dragon boat racing has been well received around the world. In addition to China, this sport is also popular in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia and Singapore.      Lin Songtao
