SHENZHEN is holding a themed promotional event in Beijing today to show the world the city’s charm, fascinating traditional Chinese culture, and the city’s explorations and practices of Chinese modernization.

The event has invited some 250 Chinese and foreign guests and journalists, including about 120 diplomatic envoys from various countries to China. It is jointly hosted by Beijing Diplomatic Service and the Publicity Department of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPC.

The city promotion event mainly consists of two parts: the “Shenzhen Stories” theme exhibition and the dance drama “Wing Chun.”

A fashion show featuring Shenzhen design works will kick off the event in the afternoon.

The exhibition features some 20 famous Shenzhen brands such as Huawei, BYD and UBTECH, and aims to tell “Shenzhen Stories” by creating an immersive atmosphere with Shenzhen elements and integrating the application scenarios of Shenzhen products.

The Shenzhen-produced dance drama “Wing Chun” is set to be performed at the Beijing Poly Theater this evening.

Integrating the power of martial arts with the beauty of dance, the drama combines two national cultural heritages, namely Chinese martial art Wing Chun and the Xiang Yun Sha silk, showcasing the charm of traditional culture in a new form of artistic presentation.

After its successful premiere in Shenzhen from Dec. 22 to 23, 2022, the dance drama has received widespread praise from all sectors of society. It began its national tour in March this year and is scheduled to be performed in more than 10 cities such as Chengdu and Guangzhou in the next six months.

The drama was produced by the Publicity Department of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPC and the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports. It was created and performed by Shenzhen Opera and Dance Theater.
