DESIGN experts and emerging talents from home and abroad will gather in Shenzhen to reflect on the city’s 15-year journey as a UNESCO City of Design and explore new opportunities for transformation and cooperation in the industrial design industry this week.
Themed “Global Design, China Power,” the 2023 World Industrial Design Day & Global Design Leaders Summit will be held at the Shenzhen Museum of Contemporary Art and Urban Planning on Thursday and Friday.
Some of the distinguished guests attending the event include David Kusuma, president of the World Design Organization (WDO); Masayuki Kurokawa, a world-famous architect and industrial designer; Paul Priestman, chairman and creative director of Puli Innovations Shanghai; and Thomas Kvan, founding dean of the School of Design at the Southern University of Science and Technology.
The Global Design Leaders Summit will invite over 100 design and innovative talents from across the globe to engage in dialogues and provide insights and suggestions for the development of the global industrial design industry in the new era.
The summit will provide a communication platform through three thematic sessions, where speakers and the audience will explore the creative integration of cutting-edge technology concepts with industrial design, and foresee new trends and opportunities in the industrial design industry.
The three “interstellar” sessions consist of “Planet A — Design Insights: New Future of Design under the Concept of Sustainable Development,” “Planet B — Design Driving Force: Fashion New Consumption Led by Design Innovation” and “Planet X — Design Awakening Power: New Species of the Era in the Wave of ChatGPT.”
The summit’s Design Night will invite renowned academicians, domestic and international manufacturing experts, design industry leaders, media professionals and more for a gathering that combines design and art, inspiration and fine wine, and culture and creativity.
Meanwhile, the Shenzhen Industrial Design Profession Association (SIDA) and the Shenzhen Women’s Federation will jointly hold the “Stars in Summer” public welfare activities during the event, drawing attention to children with autism and advocating for social support.
The event is hosted by WDO, the China Industry-University-Research Institute Collaboration Association and the Futian District Government, and organized by SIDA. |
