A 25-YEAR-OLD man surnamed Wu who is suspected of involvement in a case of intentional homicide and injury that has caused six deaths and one injury was detained for further investigation in Lianjiang, Guangdong Province, yesterday. According to a statement released by Lianjiang bureau of public security, the tragedy took place in the downtown area in the city’s Hengshan township at 7:40 a.m. and police officers were immediately sent to the scene to investigate and handle the case after it was reported by locals. Wu, a native of Lianjiang that is administrated by the port city of Zhanjiang, was brought into custody at about 8 a.m. The case has raised great concerns among local residents regarding safety. Police have yet to reveal details of their investigation. Wu’s motive for the killing is still unknown, the statement said. Investigation of the case is still ongoing, it said. According to an online video published by the Paper, the tragedy took place in a local kindergarten and local onlookers found a child and two adults who had fallen to the ground in front of the kindergarten in the incident.
